Then on Saturday 5 October another first — the first Withington Book Festival, organised by the wonderful Kirstie McCrum in a lovely part of South Manchester. I was running a workshop at the beautiful Withington Baths so of course our topic was water. We read poems by others about water in all its forms, from rain and rivers to a political object. In just 45 minutes the group wrote some really great work. I hope the festival happens again!
