I always enjoy the Macclesfield Hustings, whether as audience, organiser or (as this time) steward. St Michaels Church was full to bursting on 1 July 2024 as the audience listened and muttered and laughed as the seven very different candidates gave interesting answers to the excellent selected questions from the floor, not all of which they had been able to prepare for. Lynne Jones did a fantastic job of chairing. I was put in charge of hecklers, some of whom I had great sympathy with. The election result brought us Tim Roca (Labour) as our new MP: the first non-Conservative MP in Macclesfield for 106 years.
