In 2016 I was Barnaby Festival’s first Artist-in-Residence. One of my projects was Hills Up Streets, twelve poems spray painted on to the pavements of Macclesfield at points where there are views of the hills. I wrote the poetry, designed the graphics and had the stencils laser cut. Barnaby published a map of all the locations so festival-goers could do the whole trail. The fabulous Jane Munro came out with me at 6 one morning to get all the poems spray painted before most of Macclesfield was up… The project was one of those visited by Darren Henley, CEO of Arts Council England on his trip to Macclesfield.
