In 2017 I was fortunate enough to receive a grant from Arts Council England to cover mentoring sessions with the fabulous Mimi Khalvati and the production costs for designing and printing my first pamphlet.

Being mentored by Mimi was life-changing in teaching me about editing my poems and how to put a pamphlet together: I will take what I learned from her with me always. I printed the pamphlet, Twenty Four Miles Up, on a risograph at The Print Mill in Macclesfield, a wonderful community of printers and makers where I had a studio but which sadly no longer exists due to the building becoming unsafe.

My daughter, Lili Holland-Fricke, did some fabulous black-and-white illustrations so that the pamphlet felt to me like an illuminated manuscript.

As part of the grant I was able to finance some risograph workshops for everyone at The Print Mill and it felt like a real community project. Rory Clifford at the Print Mill showed me how to hand-stitch some copies and helped me with the work.

The pamphlet was launched on 16 September 2017 in the atmospheric King Edward Street Chapel. It was a wonderful evening.
