My second project as Artist-in-Residence for Macclesfield’s Barnaby Festival 2016 was Backwallgate Books, a temporary community library and reading nook in some disused niches in a town-centre alleyway. It was an absolute pleasure working on both projects and seeing how people took them to their hearts. Backwallgate Books was so loved that a group of volunteers set up a rota to open and close the library for the rest of the summer. We called them the Secret Librarians.

There was also a book nook next to the library where readers could get comfy.
